Bengaluru - first Wi-Fi city

Now upload photos on Facebook, check mails on smartphone, tweet on go via free Wi-Fi access offered by the Karnataka state government in the city of Bengaluru.

The Economic Times report says that Karnataka state government will offer free wireless data services from next month, that will nail Bengaluru as the first city in the country to offer such a service. 


Former director at Infosys, Mohandas Pai, heads the government formed panel to undertake the idea of Wi-Fi in the city. On a test basis this service will be available for 6 months to determine the viability of the service. Mahatma Gandhi Road and Brigade Road in Bengaluru to get the first form of this service.

"A smartphone revolution is happening in India, but connectivity is still an issue here. We wanted to provide seamless Internet access to people," Mohandas Pai said.
